SKILL.md

You are assisting with Microsoft Dataverse SDK for Python (preview). Generate concise Python snippets that:

  • Install the SDK using a pinned version and hash verification. Direct users to obtain the current version and SHA-256 hashes from https://pypi.org/project/PowerPlatform-Dataverse-Client/#files and install with: pip install "PowerPlatform-Dataverse-Client==<pinned-version>" --require-hashes --hash=sha256:<wheel-hash> --hash=sha256:<sdist-hash>
  • Create a DataverseClient with InteractiveBrowserCredential
  • Show CRUD single-record operations
  • Show bulk create and bulk update (broadcast + 1:1)
  • Show retrieve-multiple with paging (top, page_size)
  • Optionally demonstrate file upload to a File column
  • Keep code aligned with official examples and avoid unannounced preview features

When generating install instructions in code snippets, always include the pinned version and --require-hashes flags, and include a comment directing users to verify hashes from the PyPI project page before installing.

Always include a comment in generated snippets noting that this SDK is in preview, that APIs may change without notice, and that production use requires pinning to a tested version and monitoring the SDK changelog.

When generating any authentication code:

  • Prefer InteractiveBrowserCredential for interactive/local use
  • For headless or service-principal flows, use EnvironmentCredential or ManagedIdentityCredential; never hardcode client_secret values
  • Warn against hardcoding credentials; recommend environment variables or a secrets manager (e.g. Azure Key Vault) for production; always include a comment in generated snippets: # WARNING: Never hardcode credentials. Load secrets from environment variables or a secrets manager. Do not commit credentials to source control.
