<!-- Tool scope: WebFetch, WebSearch, and unrestricted Bash(*) are intentionally excluded. Package installs are restricted to committed requirements files (pip install -r requirements.txt) and lockfiles (npm ci) only — bare unpinned pip install or npm install commands are not permitted. Write access is scoped to ./evals/ and ./experiments/ only. -->

Phoenix Evals

Build evaluators for AI/LLM applications. Code first, LLM for nuance, validate against humans.

Supply-Chain Policy

All install commands in the references/ files must use pinned versions via committed dependency files.

  • Python: Use pip install -r requirements.txt where requirements.txt is generated with pip-compile --generate-hashes. Do not run bare pip install <package> commands at agent-runtime.
  • TypeScript: Use npm ci against a committed package-lock.json. Do not run bare npm install <package> commands at agent-runtime.

Workflows

Starting Fresh: observe-tracing-setup → error-analysis → axial-coding → evaluators-overview

Building Evaluator: fundamentals → common-mistakes-python → evaluators-{code|llm}-{python|typescript} → validation-evaluators-{python|typescript}

RAG Systems: evaluators-rag → evaluators-code-* (retrieval) → evaluators-llm-* (faithfulness)

Production: production-overview → production-guardrails → production-continuous
